Have you heard? No need to prick your finger with this blood sugar testing device

2024/1/21 15:08:41

Small U life often listen to some sugar friends "complain":

"The blood sugar test also need to tie the finger for fear of pain ah!

"The most afraid of the needle"!

The consequence is often delayed blood glucose monitoring ......

Today Xiao U want to tell you:

There are other ways to monitor blood glucose without sticking your finger

--Continuous glucose monitoring.

Do you understand?

Continuous glucose monitoring

What is this new technology?

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a monitoring technology that indirectly reflects the blood glucose level by continuously detecting the glucose concentration in the subcutaneous intertissue fluid through a glucose sensor.CGM glucose monitor needs to be worn continuously, and is able to automatically monitor the glucose concentration once a day at regular intervals, plotting daily glucose changes, and presenting the dynamic changes of blood glucose intuitively. The CGM can automatically monitor glucose concentration at regular intervals and draw a daily glucose curve to visualize the dynamic changes of blood glucose.

In recent years, CGM has been rapidly popularized in diabetes management, and is also increasingly used in non-diabetic areas such as neonatal hypoglycemia, healthcare guidance, perioperative and critical care patients' blood glucose management.

Continuous glucose monitoring

Is it more reliable than finger prick?

Currently the commonly used blood glucose monitoring can be divided into capillary glucose monitoring, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) monitoring, glycated albumin (GA) monitoring and CGM.Compared with the first three types of blood glucose monitoring methods, the advantages and disadvantages of CGM, Siu U also gives you a collation:

Let me give you an analogy:

Capillary blood glucose monitoring is like "taking pictures" of blood glucose, while the CGM system is like a "camera" continuously recording the dynamic trend of blood glucose, which makes up for the limitations of capillary blood glucose monitoring and HbA1c, and can detect hidden hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia that are not easy to be detected by the traditional monitoring methods, especially postprandial hyperglycemia and nocturnal asymptomatic hypoglycemia. It can detect hidden hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia that are not easily detected by traditional monitoring methods, especially postprandial hyperglycemia and nocturnal asymptomatic hypoglycemia.

CGM for blood glucose monitoring is appropriate for these groups of people

Although CGM has many benefits, it is not suitable for everyone. People who don't have a need for constant glucose monitoring don't have to use more expensive CGM devices.

CGM is a more convenient option for the following groups of people, who generally require continuous blood glucose monitoring.

1、Patients with type 1 diabetes;

2、Patients with type II diabetes mellitus who require intensive insulin therapy;

3、patients with type II diabetes who use glucose-lowering therapy under the guidance of capillary glucose monitoring and still experience one of the following conditions, specifically:

      ①Unexplained severe hypoglycemia or repeated hypoglycemia, asymptomatic hypoglycemia, nocturnal hypoglycemia;

      ②Unexplained hyperglycemia, especially fasting hyperglycemia;

      ③High fluctuation of blood glucose;

      ④Patients who deliberately maintain high blood glucose status out of fear of hypoglycemia.

4、Patients with gestational diabetes.

Whether you need to use CGM and how to wear CGM device safely and accurately, please strictly follow the doctor's instruction.
